How to write an Irish address
Top of the morning to you! Did you know that the letters IRL are actually Ireland’s country code IRL (in real life)? That’s fun, and so is understanding even more about Irish address formats. It looks like you are ready to learn about how to write a letter to friends and family members in Ireland, or to your favorite Aran sweater-making company. You can look at our Irish address examples here and try our suite of address validation tools for addresses in Ireland below. Just enter an address, and we'll format, standardize, and validate the address faster than a leprechaun runs away from you.
Now, let's get into it with the basics. The Ireland address format should be written as follows:
- Addressee line - The recipient's name.
- House number and street name - These are listed in this order, without commas between them.
- Dependent locality - On a line by itself, include the dependent locality, if applicable.
- Locality - The locality is also special and gets its own line.
- Administrative area - More special lines being dedicated to one thing alert. The administrative area gets its own row.
- Postal code - The postal code goes here without any commas to separate the sections.
- Country - "IRL", in all caps.
