How to write a Portuguese address
Olá! Pick up a plate of "sardinhas assadas," put on some fado music, and let's answer the question, 'How do you address a letter to Portugal.' To make it as pleasant as the Ribeira District, we've organized our Portugees address examples here below in a clear, easy-to-follow format, complete with explanations if you get lost.
Also, you can try our suite of address validation tools for addresses in Portugal. Simply enter an address to format, standardize, and validate it faster than you can say “por favor.” Address formatting in Portugal isn't too hard and can be written out as follows:
- Addressee line - The recipient's full name, using appropriate titles for the region.
- Street building number - With beautiful street names like "Beco Da Rua Do Mercado" it's no wonder they're listed first, followed by the building number without separating punctuation.
- Postal code and locality - Postal code first, then city or area, again without separating punctuation.
- City - The city also goes on a line all by itself.
- Country - This is often shortened to PRT
