Enjoy browsing Indian address format examples here and try out our suite of address validation tools for addresses in India below. Just enter an address, and we'll format, standardize, and validate the address while you do some yoga.

Let’s explore India’s address format in parts. The Indian address format for shipping or mailing addresses should be written as follows:

  1. Addressee line - The recipient's full name, using appropriate titles (Mr., Mrs., Miss, Dr., etc.).
  2. House or building number and street name - The building or house number should be written, followed by the street name. Leave out any separating commas or punctuation.
  3. Dependant locality - This get a line all to itself
  4. Double-dependent locality and postal code - If applicable, include the double-dependent locality here, followed by the postal code. Don’t include pesky commas here to separate the two.
  5. Country - Write "IND" in all caps on the last line.

What our customers are saying

A woman in blue activewear seated and posing, and a man in a light green shirt and yellow shorts jumping beside her, both in a peach-colored room.
We evaluated quite a few providers, and felt that Smarty was the right partner for us, given their user-friendly approach and robust support. It checked all of our boxes.
